Israeli Forces Continue Advance, Seize Control of Lebanon’s Largest River Area

Date:

Beirut, Lebanon – Web Desk: Israeli forces have continued their advance in southern Lebanon, with reports indicating they have crossed the Litani River, the country’s largest waterway, amid escalating cross-border tensions.

According to media reports, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that Israeli forces have reached a “position of control” after crossing the Litani River, marking a significant development in the ongoing military operations along the Lebanese border.

Following the escalation, Israel announced the suspension of educational activities in communities near the Lebanese border, along with the closure of public beaches in northern areas. The measures were introduced after a security assessment of the situation along the northern frontier.

The Israeli military said schools in affected communities would remain closed, public gatherings would be restricted, and residents were advised to stay near shelters and safe zones. In the Upper Galilee and occupied Golan Heights, educational activities will only be allowed inside reinforced buildings.

Israeli media reported that the military is deepening its ground operations in Lebanon and has constructed temporary bridges over the Litani River to facilitate movement.

Separately, Anadolu Agency reported that Israeli forces have reached villages north of the Litani River, including areas near Nabatieh such as Zawtar al-Sharqiya and Shaqif Arnoun. Residents in areas south of the Zahrani River were also instructed to evacuate their homes immediately.

The situation remains highly volatile as cross-border hostilities continue to intensify along the Lebanon-Israel frontier.
