TEHRAN – Web Desk: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has informed United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres that the United States’ excessive demands are the biggest obstacle to peace negotiations, according to Iranian media.
Speaking by telephone with the UN chief, Araghchi stated that the US has harmed diplomacy through broken promises, contradictory policies, and military actions in the past. Nevertheless, he emphasized that Iran is participating seriously in negotiations mediated by Pakistan.
According to Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Secretary-General Guterres rejected the use of force against any country’s sovereignty and stressed the need to continue the diplomatic process for regional stability.
Notably, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has arrived in Tehran in connection with ongoing mediation efforts between Iran and the US, while US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has also stated that he remains in continuous contact with Field Marshal Asim Munir and is hopeful that an agreement with Iran will be reached through Pakistani mediation.
