Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: A severe water crisis continues in Karachi as supply remains suspended in several parts of the city for the past 15 days, with repair work at the Dhabeji Pumping Station still incomplete.
According to details, repair work on Line No. 2 at the Dhabeji Pumping Station has not been completed even after 10 days, severely disrupting water distribution across the city.
The issue began on April 27 after a major power breakdown at the pumping station, which caused multiple transmission lines to burst, including Lines 1, 2, and 5.
As a result, water supply has been significantly affected in several areas, including Korangi, Landhi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulberg, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, PIB Colony, Mahmoodabad, and Old City areas.
Residents have been forced to purchase expensive water tankers to meet daily needs amid rising temperatures and increasing demand.
A spokesperson for the water utility said that repair work on Line No. 2 is expected to be completed within the next 24 hours. He added that the city is currently receiving 610 million gallons per day, with a shortfall of around 40 million gallons.
Authorities have expressed hope that normal water supply will be restored soon once repair work is finalized.
