Abu Dhabi, UAE – Web Desk: The United Arab Emirates has announced plans to produce graphene, one of the world’s strongest and lightest materials, for export to the United Kingdom under a new industrial partnership.
The agreement has been signed between Sharjah-based energy firm Dana Gas and British technology company Lividian, marking a significant step in advanced materials development and international trade cooperation.
Graphene, a form of carbon, is widely regarded as a breakthrough material due to its exceptional strength, flexibility, and conductivity. It is used in a wide range of industries, including carbon batteries, construction materials, paints, medical devices, and advanced sensors.
Under the project, the UAE-based company will manufacture graphene locally and export it to the UK, where it will be used in cutting-edge technological applications.
Initial investment in the project is estimated between $2 million and $5 million, with plans to scale up gradually to $50 million and potentially $500 million as production expands.
In the first phase, the facility is expected to produce approximately 15 tonnes of graphene annually.
Industry experts say the initiative could position the UAE as a key player in the global advanced materials market while strengthening technological collaboration with the UK.
