Web Desk – Primorsk, Russia: Ukraine has launched a drone strike targeting a key Russian oil infrastructure facility in the Baltic Sea region, causing a fire at the Primorsk oil loading port, one of Russia’s most important crude export hubs, according to regional authorities.
Russian regional governor Alexander Drozdenko confirmed that a fire broke out following the Ukrainian drone attack on the Primorsk port, located between the Russian-Finnish border and the city of St. Petersburg. The facility is operated by Russia’s state-owned pipeline company Transneft and has the capacity to handle several hundred thousand barrels of oil per day.
Authorities said the attack also targeted three oil tankers linked to the port’s operations. Ukrainian sources claim the facilities are being used for what they describe as “illegal transportation of Russian crude oil.”
While Russian officials stated that no oil spill was reported, there was no immediate confirmation regarding casualties or the full extent of material damage.
Primorsk is one of Russia’s largest oil export terminals and has previously been targeted multiple times during the ongoing conflict, highlighting continued pressure on Moscow’s energy infrastructure.
