Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran has firmly rejected the United States’ justification of its military actions as self-defense, describing the claims as “baseless” and lacking legal grounds.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, in a statement posted on social media, strongly criticized Washington’s latest explanations regarding its military operations. He questioned the legitimacy of the U.S. stance, asking what specific armed attack from Iran could justify invoking the right to self-defense.
“Against what threat?” Baghaei asked, adding that there had been no armed aggression from Iran that would warrant such a response. He concluded that the answer was “absolutely not.”
The spokesperson stated that the U.S. actions constituted “open aggression” against the Iranian nation rather than a legitimate act of self-defense. He also emphasized that Iran had responded firmly and in a timely manner to what it described as unlawful actions.
The exchange marks a further escalation in rhetoric between Tehran and Washington amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing geopolitical uncertainty.
