Sindh Govt Prioritises Workers’ Rights on Labour Day

Date:

Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Marking International Labour Day, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said the protection of workers’ rights remains the government’s top priority, stressing that labourers are the backbone of sustainable economic development.

In his message, Memon said the contributions, sacrifices, and hard work of the labour force must be acknowledged, noting that no society can achieve lasting progress without ensuring the welfare of its workers.

He paid tribute to the historic sacrifices of the Haymarket affair martyrs, saying their struggle paved the way for global labour rights movements and continues to inspire workers worldwide.

Memon added that the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Sindh government have consistently prioritised the welfare of workers and farmers. He highlighted measures including increases in minimum wage, enforcement of labour laws, and the provision of healthcare and financial support for workers.

The minister also pointed to ongoing technical training programmes, job creation initiatives, and special facilities for women workers as part of Sindh’s labour-friendly policies.

He said these efforts reflect the government’s commitment to building a fair and prosperous society by empowering workers and farmers across the province.
