Doha, Qatar – Web Desk: Qatar has expressed strong support for Pakistan’s mediation role in ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran, stating that no additional mediator is required at this stage.
Speaking during a routine press briefing, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, saying there is no need to expand the scope of negotiations or involve other countries in the process.
Al-Ansari said Qatar remains in close contact with regional and international partners regarding the talks and emphasized the importance of pursuing a peaceful and diplomatic resolution to the conflict.
However, he warned that any prolonged deadlock in negotiations could risk turning the situation into a frozen conflict, potentially leading to periodic escalations in the region.
Without naming any country, the spokesperson also stressed that any threat to or closure of the Strait of Hormuz would be unacceptable, highlighting its critical importance to global energy security. He cautioned against using the waterway as a bargaining tool, warning that the world cannot afford irresponsible actions that could disrupt energy supplies.
On Lebanon, Al-Ansari reaffirmed Qatar’s continued support for Lebanon and its armed forces, noting ongoing coordination with international partners under a five-party framework.
The remarks reflect growing regional concern over stability in the Middle East and underline support for Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue between Washington and Tehran.
