MOSCOW – Web Desk: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has claimed that US President Donald Trump has requested negotiations with Iran, and that Tehran is currently considering the request.
In a statement, Araghchi said Trump is seeking talks because the United States has failed to achieve any of its objectives in the war it imposed on Iran.
The remarks came after Araghchi met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Putin earlier offered Russia’s mediation in the US-Iran conflict, stating that Russia would do whatever is possible in the interests of regional countries, particularly Iran.
“Iran and Russia will continue their strategic partnership,” Putin said during the meeting.
Araghchi responded by emphasizing that Iran-Russia relations are based on strategic partnership, which will continue to strengthen. He also thanked the Russian president for his support of Iran.
