Trump Says Shooter Hated Christians, Had Mental Health Issues

Date:

WASHINGTON – Web Desk: US President Donald Trump has described the shooter who opened fire during the White House Press Dinner as a mentally disturbed individual who harbored anti-Christian views and deep hatred.

In an interview with US media, President Trump said the attacker was stopped immediately during the dinner event. “Securing the venue was difficult,” he added.

“The attacker holds anti-Christian ideologies. There was so much hatred in his heart,” Trump said. “Read his manifesto — he hates Christians.” The president also characterized the shooter as mentally ill, noting that the attacker’s family was aware he had been struggling with difficulties.

A law enforcement official said the manifesto was sent to the attacker’s family shortly before the shooting.

It may be recalled that a shooting incident occurred during a dinner honoring White House media correspondents in Washington, with President Trump present at the venue. The president remained safe, and the attacker was apprehended.
