MOSCOW – Web Desk: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has described his visit to Islamabad as “highly useful,” stating that positive consultations were held with Pakistani officials.
Speaking to Iranian media upon arrival in Moscow, Araghchi said he traveled to Russia with the aim of maintaining close consultations on regional and global affairs. He confirmed a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin later today.
“The meeting with the Russian president will be a good opportunity to review the progress of the war and the current situation,” Araghchi said. He expressed confidence that consultations and coordination between the two countries would hold special significance.
Regarding his Pakistan visit, Araghchi stated: “The visit to Pakistan was very useful. Positive consultations were held with officials. In Islamabad, officials reviewed past events and the specific circumstances under which Iran-US talks can continue.”
Araghchi also revealed that during his visit to Oman, the two countries discussed the Strait of Hormuz. “Iran and Oman are coastal states of the Strait of Hormuz, so mutual consultation is inevitable — especially now that safe passage through this waterway has become a major global issue,” he said.
“As two coastal states, we must maintain coordination in every possible measure. Our mutual interests lie in this,” he added. Araghchi noted that a high-level agreement exists between Iran and Oman, and both countries have agreed to continue consultations at the expert level.
