Security forces killed eight militants in South Waziristan and two in Dir during separate operations, recovering weapons and ammunition, according to ISPR.
RAWALPINDI, Pakistan — WEB DESK: Pakistan’s security forces killed 10 militants in two separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said on Friday.
According to the ISPR statement, the operations were conducted in South Waziristan and Dir on Thursday.
Eight militants killed in South Waziristan
Security forces thwarted an attempted attack on security checkposts in the Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan, ISPR said.
An exchange of fire followed the attempted attack, during which eight militants were killed by security forces, according to the military’s media wing.
Two more killed in Dir
In a separate engagement in Dir district on the same day, security forces killed two additional militants, bringing the total number of militants killed in the two operations to 10.
ISPR said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants killed during the operations.
Following the engagements, security forces conducted sanitisation operations in the surrounding areas to search for any other militants, the statement added.
Military vows to continue counterterrorism campaign
The military said it would continue its counterterrorism campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam to eliminate what it described as foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
Pakistan has repeatedly alleged that militant groups operating from Afghan territory receive support from India to carry out attacks inside Pakistan. India has previously rejected such allegations.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have remained the country’s major hotspots for militant violence. A recent report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) identified KP as the worst-affected region during the second quarter of 2026.
According to the ISPR-reported figures, KP and Balochistan together accounted for nearly 96% of violence-related fatalities recorded during that period.
The latest operations come amid continued security efforts in KP, where authorities have intensified operations against militant groups following a sustained rise in attacks.
