Washington, United States – Web Desk: The United States has frozen cryptocurrency assets worth $344 million linked to Iran, as part of a broader effort to curb Tehran’s financial networks and revenue streams.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in a statement that Washington will continue to systematically disrupt Iran’s ability to generate, transfer, and access funds. The measures include sanctions on multiple cryptocurrency wallets associated with Iranian entities, leading to the freezing of significant digital assets.
The US Department of the Treasury reiterated its commitment to limiting Iran’s financial capabilities, particularly amid ongoing geopolitical tensions affecting energy markets and regional stability.
In parallel, the United States has also imposed sanctions on a Chinese oil refinery, several shipping companies, and oil tankers accused of facilitating Iran’s oil exports. Officials say these actions are part of a wider campaign to increase economic pressure on Tehran.
