Field Marshal Asim Munir Reportedly Working to Save US-Iran Peace Talks

Date:

KARACHI, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, is reportedly playing a key role in efforts to prevent US-Iran negotiations from collapsing amid rising regional tensions.

According to a report by the Financial Times, Pakistan has emerged as an important diplomatic channel as tensions between the United States and Iran continue to strain regional stability.

The report said Islamabad is actively involved in backchannel diplomacy aimed at easing tensions between Washington and Tehran, with Field Marshal Asim Munir being viewed as an unconventional but central figure in mediation efforts.

US-Iran peace talks have reportedly faced major challenges due to deep mistrust, economic sanctions, and ongoing military tensions between both countries.

Pakistan is said to be working to facilitate communication and create diplomatic space for dialogue as fears grow over further instability in the Middle East.

The reported mediation efforts come at a time when global powers are closely monitoring developments in the region, with concerns that any further escalation could impact oil markets, regional security, and international diplomacy.

Neither Pakistani officials nor US and Iranian authorities have publicly commented on the report.
