PM Shehbaz Sharif chairs meeting on Iran-US ceasefire developments

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level consultative meeting on Wednesday to review the latest developments related to the Iran–United States ceasefire.

According to official sources, the meeting was attended by senior federal ministers and top government officials, who discussed the evolving situation following the recent extension of the ceasefire between Washington and Tehran.

Participants also reviewed Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at facilitating a second round of negotiations between the two sides. Islamabad has been actively engaged in mediating dialogue to reduce tensions and promote regional stability.

Sources said Pakistan’s leadership is expected to remain in contact with Iranian authorities, continuing efforts to encourage constructive engagement and progress in talks.

The meeting also noted Pakistan’s positive response to the ceasefire extension announced by Donald Trump, with officials expressing hope that both sides would move toward a comprehensive and lasting agreement.

Analysts say Pakistan’s diplomatic role has become increasingly significant as tensions persist in the region, with global attention focused on whether continued mediation can help prevent further escalation.
