30+ Nations Plan Military Action to Reopen Strait of Hormuz

Date:

London, United Kingdom – Web Desk: More than 30 countries have begun military planning discussions in London aimed at reopening the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, as global concerns mount over disrupted energy supplies.

According to the UK Ministry of Defence, the two-day meeting is being held at the Permanent Joint Headquarters in Northwood. Military planners from participating nations are expected to assess capabilities, command-and-control structures, and potential force deployment options in the region.

The initiative is being led by the United Kingdom and France, following increased efforts by Keir Starmer and Emmanuel Macron to establish a multinational coalition focused on ensuring maritime security and restoring shipping routes.

Officials said any military plan developed during the meeting could be implemented swiftly once conditions allow, particularly in the event of a sustained ceasefire in the region.

Earlier, a virtual summit involving 51 countries endorsed the creation of an independent, defensive multinational mission to safeguard navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and maintain stability in global trade routes.

UK Defence Secretary John Healey said the main challenge now lies in translating diplomatic consensus into actionable military plans that can secure maritime freedom and support a durable ceasefire.

The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has placed significant strain on global energy markets, with sharp disruptions reported in oil and gas shipments. Analysts warn that prolonged instability in the region could have far-reaching consequences for international trade and energy security.
