Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan has received an additional $1 billion from Saudi Arabia, the State Bank of Pakistan confirmed on Monday, marking the second tranche of a $3 billion financial support package.
According to the central bank, the latest inflow follows an earlier transfer of $2 billion on April 15, completing the full $3 billion deposit pledged by Saudi authorities to support Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves and economic stability.
The funds are expected to strengthen Pakistan’s external account position amid ongoing economic challenges and global financial pressures.
Separately, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb recently stated that an existing $5 billion Saudi deposit could be extended for three years instead of being rolled over annually, with its maturity potentially pushed to 2028.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has recently repaid $2 billion to the United Arab Emirates along with $450 million in interest, while another $1 billion repayment to the UAE is due on April 23.
