Beijing, China – Web Desk: Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said the country’s economy remains stable despite mounting global economic pressures driven by rising energy prices and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
Speaking during a Chinese television program, Aurangzeb noted that while global oil price volatility has increased inflationary risks worldwide, Pakistan has so far managed to absorb the initial impact effectively.
He said the government is implementing targeted subsidies to ease the burden of inflation, particularly focusing on transport, agriculture, and low-income households. These measures aim to provide relief to vulnerable segments of society amid rising living costs.
The finance minister highlighted key economic indicators, stating that remittances have shown significant growth and the country has achieved a current account surplus. He added that Pakistan’s economic growth is projected to reach around 4% during the current fiscal year.
However, Aurangzeb warned that prolonged geopolitical tensions could pose risks to inflation, exports, and overall economic stability if global conditions worsen.
He further emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to tackling climate change by investing in renewable energy and advanced technologies. Additionally, he noted that the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will focus on boosting industrial and agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
