Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a significant reduction in diesel prices, cutting the rate by Rs32.12 per litre, while petrol prices remain unchanged.
According to official sources, the decision aims to provide relief to consumers amid shifting global oil prices. Following the approval, the price of high-speed diesel has dropped from Rs385.54 to Rs353.42 per litre.
The Petroleum Division has issued a formal notification confirming that the revised diesel price came into effect on April 18, 2026. However, petrol prices have been kept steady.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the government is committed to passing on the benefits of lower oil prices to the public as quickly as possible.
The latest move follows last week’s major reduction in petroleum prices, when diesel saw a sharp cut of Rs134.81 per litre, while petrol prices were also reduced by Rs11.83 per litre to Rs366.58.
Economic analysts say the continued decline in fuel prices could ease inflationary pressure and support transport and industrial sectors in Pakistan.
