Macron Urges US-Iran Talks, Calls for Lebanon Ceasefire

Date:

Paris, France – Web Desk: French President Emmanuel Macron has intensified diplomatic efforts to ease tensions in the Middle East, holding a series of high-level phone calls with global leaders.

According to international media reports, Macron spoke with US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, urging both sides to resume negotiations and resolve misunderstandings through dialogue.

The French leader emphasized that diplomacy remains the only viable path to prevent further escalation, calling for renewed engagement between Washington and Tehran.

Macron also advocated for expanding the existing two-week ceasefire framework to include Lebanon, stressing the importance of strict adherence to ceasefire commitments across the region.

In addition, he called for the immediate and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, without the imposition of fees or restrictions, highlighting its critical role in global trade and energy supply.

The French president further announced plans to host an international conference on Friday, in coordination with the United Kingdom, aimed at restoring safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring maritime security.

Analysts say Macron’s diplomatic push reflects growing international concern over regional instability and the potential global economic impact of disruptions in key shipping routes.
