Brussels/Islamabad – Web Desk: European nations, including the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Denmark, the Netherlands, Canada, and Japan, have urged all parties to ensure strict compliance with the ceasefire in Lebanon, following the temporary Iran–US truce.
In a joint statement released by EU institutions, including the European Commission and European Council, the leaders welcomed the ceasefire and thanked Pakistan and other mediators for their diplomatic efforts. The statement emphasized that the negotiations aim for a swift and lasting end to hostilities, achievable only through diplomatic channels.
The European leaders called for immediate progress toward a meaningful agreement, highlighting that such efforts are crucial for the protection of Iranian civilians, regional security, and the mitigation of the ongoing global energy crisis. They reaffirmed support for continued diplomatic engagement and pledged coordination with the United States and other partners.
The statement also stressed the importance of implementing the ceasefire in Lebanon, ensuring that humanitarian needs are met and violence is prevented.
