Quetta, Pakistan – Web Desk: Customs enforcement authorities in Quetta have seized 29.789 million Iranian rials from a passenger attempting to transfer the undeclared currency abroad, officials said on Tuesday.
According to customs officials, the passenger was intercepted following a tip-off, leading to the recovery of a significant amount of foreign currency that had not been declared through legal channels. The timely action by the customs team prevented what authorities described as an illegal cross-border transfer.
Officials added that the seized amount is estimated to be worth millions of Pakistani rupees, raising concerns about organized currency smuggling networks operating in the region.
The Collector of Customs expressed satisfaction over the successful operation, reiterating that customs enforcement agencies remain committed to curbing illegal trade and financial smuggling.
Authorities have launched further investigations to determine potential links to broader smuggling networks and to identify other individuals involved.
