Iranian Tribes Shoot Down US Black Hawk Helicopters in Mountain Attack

Date:

Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: In a dramatic escalation of tensions, Iranian nomadic tribes reportedly targeted and fired upon two U.S. Black Hawk helicopters in the mountainous region of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province. The helicopters were carrying a U.S. pilot who had ejected after his aircraft was shot down by Iranian forces.

According to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the tribes acted independently in areas where Iranian military personnel were absent. Armed with small arms normally used for livestock protection, the tribes successfully engaged the helicopters, forcing one to make a crash-landing maneuver. Some personnel were injured and evacuated by another U.S. aircraft, while the second helicopter sustained damage.

Social media footage circulating online shows armed tribal members aiming at the low-flying helicopters. The IRGC praised the tribes’ patriotism and bravery, noting that their intervention occurred without military support.

BBC attempted to verify the incident with U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), but no immediate response was received. Analysts note the event highlights the unpredictable role of local tribal groups in conflict zones.
