Sindh Govt to Give Motorcyclists Monthly PKR 2,000 Amid Fuel Hike

Date:

Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: In response to soaring petrol prices and the ongoing energy crisis, the Sindh government has announced a targeted subsidy of PKR 2,000 per month for registered motorcyclists across the province.

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah stated that an application will be operational within two to three days, allowing motorcyclists to register their vehicles via their national identity cards. The subsidy will cover PKR 100 per liter for fuel, with disbursement expected within 15 days of registration.

“This is a targeted measure to support those most affected by rising fuel costs. Motorcyclists will also benefit from free vehicle transfers, starting immediately,” CM Shah added.

The chief minister highlighted that approximately 6.7 million motorcycles are registered in Sindh, and the initiative is part of a broader provincial plan to support low-income citizens, small farmers, and the public transport sector amid surging energy prices.

“Small farmers will receive PKR 1,500 per acre for their land, while public and goods transport sectors will receive monthly subsidies ranging from PKR 70,000 to 180,000,” he noted.

CM Shah also addressed regional tensions, stating that recent conflicts and geopolitical developments, including military operations involving Iran, have affected global energy prices, contributing to domestic fuel inflation. He emphasized that the province is implementing a “targeted subsidy” strategy to ensure assistance reaches those most in need, rather than blanket subsidies benefiting wealthier segments.

The Sindh government’s initiative aims to mitigate the immediate financial burden on commuters, maintain mobility, and stabilize household expenses as petrol costs continue to climb across Pakistan.
