Jawad Zarif Urges Iran to Declare Victory, End War Diplomatically

Date:

Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Former Iranian Foreign Minister Jawad Zarif has urged Tehran to declare victory and pursue a diplomatic settlement to end the ongoing conflict, warning against prolonged instability in the region.

In a detailed article published in Foreign Affairs, Zarif outlined a comprehensive strategy aimed at resolving tensions between Iran and its adversaries while preventing future wars.

He suggested that Iran should consider accepting limited restrictions on its nuclear programme in exchange for the complete lifting of international sanctions, a move he argued could pave the way for long-term stability.

Zarif also proposed reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy route, as a confidence-building measure to ease pressure on international markets and reduce geopolitical tensions.

Additionally, he called for a mutual non-aggression pact between Iran and the United States, under which both sides would formally commit to avoiding future military confrontation.

The former foreign minister further highlighted the potential for economic cooperation between Tehran and Washington, suggesting that improved relations could bring tangible benefits to both nations’ economies and populations.

Zarif argued that such steps would allow Iran to shift its focus from external threats to domestic development, economic recovery, and public welfare, creating a more stable and prosperous future.

Analysts say his proposals come at a time of heightened tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, as diplomatic efforts continue to find an off-ramp to the conflict.
