Russia Ready to Mediate Iran Conflict, Putin Urges Diplomatic Efforts

Moscow, Russia – Web Desk: Russia has expressed readiness to play a role in ending the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, including tensions involving Iran, Kremlin officials said, following a series of diplomatic contacts by President Vladimir Putin.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed to journalists that Putin is maintaining continuous communication with regional leaders to encourage a peaceful resolution. “We are prepared to contribute to ensuring that the military situation transitions to a peaceful path as quickly as possible,” Peskov said.

The announcement came after U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the nation regarding the Iran conflict and the potential reconsideration of NATO commitments, with Peskov noting that Russia views NATO as a potential adversarial bloc.

According to AFP, Putin recently spoke with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, emphasizing the need for effective political and diplomatic measures to end the Middle East conflict. Both leaders highlighted the urgency of reducing regional tensions and pursuing sustainable solutions.

Meanwhile, Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom is coordinating with U.S. and Israeli authorities to ensure a temporary ceasefire during the withdrawal of additional personnel from Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant. Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev stated that approximately 200 staff members will return next week under strict adherence to the ceasefire protocol.

The Bushehr facility, originally built by Russia, has ongoing construction of additional reactor units, with Russian personnel overseeing the project. Moscow insists that safe operations and staff movements be guaranteed amidst regional hostilities.
