Washington, USA – Web Desk: A U.S. newspaper reported that President Donald Trump is reportedly seeking to end the conflict with Iran without immediately reopening the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Citing Trump administration officials, the report says the president has instructed his advisers that he wants to conclude the war while postponing any complex operations to reopen the waterway.
The newspaper notes that Trump’s stance comes amid heightened tensions, after the president recently warned that Iran’s power plants, oil wells, and water treatment facilities could be targeted if agreements fail and the Strait remains closed.
Trump also indicated that negotiations with new Iranian representatives are ongoing and that these new interlocutors have shown more reasonable positions than previous counterparts.
White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt added that constructive discussions with Iran are taking place, with Tehran reportedly agreeing to some of Washington’s proposals. Analysts say the development reflects cautious diplomacy amid escalating regional security concerns.
