TEHRAN, Iran – Web Desk: Iran has denied engaging in direct negotiations with the United States, emphasizing that all communications have been conducted through intermediaries.
Speaking to the media, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei stated that proposals sent to Tehran were largely unrealistic, unreasonable, and excessive. He added that while regional efforts for peace are welcome, the situation must be approached realistically.
The clarification comes amid reports that Pakistan is facilitating indirect talks between Washington and Tehran, with former U.S. President Donald Trump suggesting that a deal could be reached soon.
Baqaei also warned against linking the Ukraine conflict to the U.S.-Israel military campaign against Iran, calling such assumptions a dangerous misperception.
The development highlights ongoing regional diplomacy efforts as tensions in the Middle East remain high and underscores the complexity of U.S.-Iran relations.
