London, United Kingdom – Web Desk: A report cited by British media suggests that any full-scale ground invasion of Iran by the United States would require up to one million troops, highlighting the scale and risks of a potential conflict.
According to defense analyst Sam Kiley, Iran’s vast geography, large population, and strong military structure make limited troop deployments insufficient for achieving strategic objectives. He noted that previous conflicts demonstrate the difficulty of stabilizing large regions even with significant military presence.
The report references the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, where hundreds of thousands of troops failed to establish lasting stability despite prolonged operations.
Iran’s military capabilities, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, regular armed forces, and Basij militia, are cited as key factors that could lead to prolonged resistance, guerrilla warfare, and increased use of drone attacks.
While initial strikes could secure strategic targets such as oil facilities or key islands, experts warn that any prolonged conflict would likely become costly, complex, and unpredictable.
