ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan is playing a pivotal role in facilitating indirect communications between Iran and the United States, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, Dar confirmed that Washington has shared a 15-point proposal with Tehran, which the Iranian government is currently reviewing.
“Pakistan is fully committed to promoting regional peace and stability,” Dar said. “We are undertaking all possible diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and support sustainable peace. Brotherly countries, including Turkey and Egypt, are also assisting in this process.”
Dar tagged the U.S. and Iranian foreign ministers in his post, highlighting Pakistan’s active engagement in the diplomatic exchange.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baqai stated that several countries had offered to mediate between Tehran and Washington. He emphasized that Iran has received such requests, responded accordingly, and will continue its defensive posture. Baqai described claims of direct negotiations with the U.S. and Israel as unreliable.
In an interview, Baqai further noted that Iran’s foreign minister remains in contact with counterparts in neighboring countries. “Pakistan is our neighbor, and our relations are strong. We understand Pakistan’s intentions to be positive,” he said.
The ongoing indirect communications underscore Pakistan’s growing diplomatic role in efforts to stabilize the Middle East amid heightened tensions between Iran and the U.S.
