Tehran/Washington – Web Desk: Iran has claimed it shot down a United States fighter jet, releasing a video as purported evidence, while the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has firmly denied the allegation, calling it false.
According to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, its forces successfully targeted a US F/A-18 fighter aircraft during ongoing hostilities in the region. Iranian state media circulated a video that it said shows the incident, which has since gained widespread traction on social media platforms.
However, US military officials rejected the claim, stating that no American aircraft had been hit or downed. CENTCOM described the reports as part of an “information warfare” campaign, warning that misleading or unverified content could be used to influence public perception amid heightened tensions.
Analysts note that the conflict is increasingly extending beyond conventional military engagement into the information domain, with both sides attempting to shape narratives through media and digital platforms.
Independent verification of the video released by Iranian sources has not been possible, and its authenticity remains unclear.
The latest exchange underscores the volatile situation in the Middle East, where military operations, competing claims, and propaganda efforts continue to escalate alongside the broader geopolitical crisis.
