Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, the 51st Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Policy Board meeting was held, approving key infrastructure projects across the province.
The meeting was attended by provincial ministers, including Nasir Hussain Shah, Ziaul Hassan Lanjhar, and senior government officials.
Chief Minister Shah approved the construction of a new Sukkur-Rohri bridge over the Indus River, describing it as a strategic project to improve connectivity between Sukkur, Rohri, and surrounding areas, while reducing traffic congestion.
Officials briefed the board that the 1.5-kilometer multi-lane bridge will feature separate lanes for heavy vehicles and pedestrians, expected to ease daily traffic for thousands of vehicles. Currently, the Lansdowne Bridge handles over 30,000 vehicles per day, with restrictions on heavy traffic causing ongoing congestion.
The PPP project will proceed with the appointment of Project Development Facility (PDF) and transaction advisors to ensure effective execution under the PPP model.
The board also received an update on the Bhutto Expressway, which is 88% complete, and Chief Minister Shah directed its operationalization by April 2026.
Additional approvals included solar street lights in Samoon Goth, a feasibility study for Kathore Interchange, and upgraded connectivity roads.
Reforms in the PPP policy were also approved to enhance transparency, reject unusual bids, and encourage private sector investment, including the implementation of the Right of First Refusal (ROFR).
Chief Minister Shah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure development across Sindh.
