Pakistani Tanker Safely Passes Strait of Hormuz via Iran-Approved Route

Date:

Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: The Pakistani-flagged tanker “Karachi” has successfully traversed the Strait of Hormuz, following a narrow, Iran-approved route between the islands of Larak and Qeshm, Bloomberg reported. Carrying over 8 million liters of crude oil bound for Pakistan, the vessel remained close to the Iranian coastline before heading toward the Gulf of Oman.

The tanker’s passage highlights Iran’s informal maritime traffic control system, signaling that approval from Tehran is effectively required for ships navigating the strategic waterway. Several countries, including India and Turkey, have sought Iran’s assurance for safe passage amid rising regional tensions. Insurance companies and banks have expressed concern over growing risks on the Iranian route.

Bloomberg further noted that two cargo ships departing Iranian ports on Monday morning used the same route and broadcasted their locations publicly, reinforcing the pattern of approved navigation.

Separately, White House economic advisor Kevin Hassett stated that oil tankers have resumed transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking to US media, Hassett indicated that the conflict could conclude within weeks rather than months, emphasizing that former President Donald Trump would not back down before achieving strategic objectives. He also noted concerns that some Asian countries may reduce oil exports to the US, highlighting shared interests between China and the US in stabilizing fuel markets.

The transit of the “Karachi” tanker demonstrates the delicate balance of maritime security, energy supply, and diplomacy in one of the world’s most sensitive shipping corridors.
