Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Nehal Hashmi has officially taken oath as the Governor of Sindh, administered by Chief Justice of Sindh High Court, Zafar Ahmed Rajput. The ceremony was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Interior Minister Zia Lanjari, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, PML-N Sindh President Bashir Memon, and other political leaders and party workers.

President Asif Ali Zardari approved Hashmi’s appointment as Governor just a day before the ceremony.

In 2012, he was appointed PML-N Karachi President and later became General Secretary of the party’s Sindh chapter in August 2014.

In 2015, Hashmi was nominated as a Senate candidate from Punjab. Although he was briefly expelled from PML-N in 2017 over controversial remarks regarding the Panama Papers case, his party membership was reinstated in 2021.
