Web Desk | Islamabad, Pakistan The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday resolved objections raised by the Registrar’s Office and ordered that the appeals filed by PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana-II case be assigned numbers.
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro heard the petition challenging the registrar’s objection regarding the late submission of the appeals. Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s counsel, Barrister Salman Safdar, appeared before the court. Family members, including Imran Khan’s sister Alamia Khan, along with Salman Akram Raja and Intizar Panjhotra, were present in the courtroom.
During proceedings, Barrister Safdar explained that delays were due to difficulties in obtaining signed power of attorney documents, affecting his representation in over 300 cases. He said he had approached the court in good faith after assurances from the Chief Justice regarding the genuineness of the documents.
Justice Soomro remarked on the commitment of counsel, saying, “Do not kneel; we have stood on this side for 21 years as well.” The bench directed that both appeals now be formally numbered, allowing the legal process to proceed.
