Punjab to Set Up Anti-Drone Units in All Districts for Security

Date:

Lahore, Pakistan – Web Desk The government of Punjab has announced plans to establish Anti-Drone Units in all districts of the province as part of a major step to strengthen security and aerial monitoring.

According to the Punjab Home Department, each district will also be equipped with an Anti-Drone System capable of detecting and neutralizing unauthorized drones through advanced electronic jamming technology.

Officials said the specialized units will operate under the supervision of the district police leadership, particularly the District Police Officer (DPO), and will focus on countering drones used by hostile or malicious actors.

The initiative is aimed at improving public safety, boosting aerial surveillance capabilities, and preventing potential security threats across the province.

Authorities have already imposed restrictions on drone operations under Section 144, banning the outdoor use of drones by the general public due to security concerns.

However, law enforcement agencies and intelligence organizations will remain exempt from the restriction to ensure operational effectiveness in security and surveillance activities.

Officials say the new anti-drone framework will enhance monitoring and response capacity amid growing concerns over the misuse of drone technology.
