Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: The current National Assembly of Pakistan has set a new record for the highest legislative output in recent years, according to a performance review report by PILDAT.
During its second parliamentary year, from March 1, 2025, to February 28, 2026, the Assembly conducted 231 hours of sessions—surpassing all previous assemblies—and relied less on ordinances. The Assembly held 84 sessions this year, compared to 93 in its first year, reflecting a 9.7% decrease.
Notable legislative achievements include a new law restricting the public disclosure of members’ assets. Khawaja Asif was the most vocal member, while Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Amra Yousaf, and Barrister Gohar also set records for lengthy speeches. The Opposition Leader position remained vacant for five months. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended six out of 84 sessions.
