US Moves to Reopen Strait of Hormuz Amid Tensions

Date:

Washington, United States – Web Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that Washington is prepared to ensure the reopening and security of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil shipping routes, amid escalating tensions in the Gulf.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said that if necessary, the U.S. Navy would escort commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz to guarantee safe passage. He added that American financial institutions would assist in providing insurance support for ships operating in the region.

According to the president, oil tankers and all commercial vessels would receive insurance guarantees to safeguard trade flows during the ongoing crisis. The move is aimed at protecting global energy supply chains and maintaining commercial stability in the Gulf.

Trump reiterated his earlier claim that Iran’s military infrastructure, including its air force and navy, had been “eliminated,” and said Tehran was seeking talks with Washington but that it might be “too late.”

He acknowledged that oil prices could remain elevated in the short term due to the conflict but expressed confidence that prices would fall significantly once hostilities end.

The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime chokepoint through which a significant portion of the world’s oil exports pass, making its security central to global markets and energy stability.
