US Says 2,000 Iran Targets Hit, 17 Warships Destroyed

Date:

Washington, United States – Web Desk: The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) said U.S. forces have carried out strikes on approximately 2,000 targets inside Iran amid the escalating conflict between Washington and Tehran.

In a statement, CENTCOM claimed that 17 Iranian naval vessels, including a submarine, were destroyed during operations in the Arabian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman. According to the U.S. military, no Iranian naval ships are currently operating in those waters.

Iran, in response, launched around 500 ballistic missiles and more than 2,000 drones targeting U.S. and allied positions, according to American officials.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump said that Iran’s air force, navy and leadership had been “eliminated,” adding that Tehran was seeking talks with Washington but that “it may be too late.” Trump stated that military operations would continue until U.S. objectives are achieved.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also said Washington is working to destroy Iran’s missile launch pads and is targeting its nuclear and ballistic missile infrastructure. He reiterated that the United States would not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons under any circumstances.

Iranian authorities have not immediately confirmed the scale of destruction cited by the United States. Independent verification of battlefield claims remains difficult due to restricted access and ongoing hostilities.

The conflict has intensified concerns over regional stability, global energy markets, and security in key maritime routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, a critical artery for global oil shipments.
