Pakistan Tour of Bangladesh in Doubt Amid Security Concerns

Date:

(Web Desk) – Uncertainty has clouded Pakistan’s upcoming tour of Bangladesh due to regional security concerns and ongoing reviews of travel and safety arrangements for players and officials.

Cricket sources said preparations for the three-match one-day international series in Dhaka, scheduled for March 11, 13 and 15, remain under review. The team’s departure is tentatively planned for March 9, but officials are reassessing security conditions amid heightened regional tensions.

While the schedule currently stands, insiders acknowledged that contingency plans are being considered in case the situation deteriorates. The series represents Pakistan’s first assignment after the ICC T20 World Cup, and selection discussions are expected in the coming days.

Reports suggest the selection committee may consider significant changes to the one-day squad as attention shifts toward long-term planning and future tournaments. Players with inconsistent form, including Babar Azam and Mohammad Nawaz, could face the possibility of being dropped as the committee explores opportunities for younger talent.

Officials indicated that if the series proceeds, Sahibzada Farhan is likely to be included in the squad following strong performances in recent competitions. Cricket authorities emphasised that squad decisions will prioritise building a balanced team capable of long-term success.

Pakistan has no immediate T20 assignments, allowing selectors time to deliberate changes with an eye on future events such as the ICC T20 World Cup cycle. The gradual integration of emerging players is being considered as part of a broader strategy to strengthen the national side.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has not issued an official statement regarding tour arrangements or potential squad modifications.
