Tehran, Iran – (Web Desk) Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said Tehran is prepared for a prolonged conflict and will defend what he described as its “6,000-year-old civilisation” at any cost.
In a statement released amid escalating regional tensions, Larijani warned that Iran’s adversaries would regret miscalculations about the country’s resolve. He stressed that Iran had not initiated the current hostilities, adding that historically, the country had not been the aggressor in major conflicts.
Separately, Alireza Arafi, a member of Iran’s interim leadership council, said recent US and Israeli actions were based on what he termed flawed assumptions. In his first remarks since joining the council, Arafi described the moves against Iran as “wrong, inappropriate and unjust.”
He added that the leadership council would carry out its responsibilities with vigilance and unity during the current crisis.
The comments come as tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel continue to rise, fuelling concerns over a broader regional conflict and long-term geopolitical instability in the Middle East.
