Record Numbers of Americans Leaving U.S. Amid Inflation, Tensions

Date:

Washington, U.S. – Web Desk: A growing number of Americans are relocating abroad amid rising inflation, political tensions, and concerns over quality of life, according to a recent report by The Wall Street Journal. Experts say such a trend has not been seen since the Great Depression.

The report highlights that favorable visa policies, tax incentives, and higher living standards in European countries are attracting U.S. citizens, with record numbers moving to Europe, Asia, and Latin America during 2025.

It is estimated that around 150,000 Americans have left the country, resulting in a net negative migration for the first time in several decades. While historically the U.S. has been a major destination for immigrants, recent social and economic challenges are reversing the trend.

Former President Donald Trump’s strict immigration policies have also sparked debate, but the main shift is the voluntary departure of American citizens themselves. Government enforcement actions against undocumented immigrants are cited as one factor, though experts stress that broader economic and lifestyle concerns are driving this unprecedented migration.

Analysts warn that the outflow could have long-term implications for U.S. demographics, labor markets, and global influence if the trend continues.
