Washington / Tel Aviv – Web Desk: Amid rising tensions between the United States and Iran, the US Navy aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford has arrived in Israel. The carrier was previously stationed at a US base on Crete, Greece, on Monday.
The deployment comes alongside renewed nuclear negotiations in Geneva, Switzerland, held on February 26, as Washington simultaneously increases military pressure on Tehran.
US officials have previously warned that Iran’s nuclear program could trigger military action if a new agreement is not reached. Western powers fear Tehran may be advancing toward nuclear weapons capabilities, allegations that Iran continues to deny.
Reports indicate that the US currently has more than a dozen warships in the Middle East, including another aircraft carrier, USS Abraham Lincoln, along with nine destroyers and other combat vessels. Analysts note that the simultaneous presence of two US carriers in the region is highly unusual and signals heightened military readiness.
