New York, United States – Web Desk: The United Nations has expressed deep concern over the recent escalation of border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan, urging both sides to prioritise civilian protection and adhere to international law.

According to a statement issued by the spokesperson for UN Secretary-General António Guterres, the Secretary-General is closely monitoring developments along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The statement, delivered by UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric, called on both countries to exercise restraint and fully comply with international law, particularly international humanitarian law.

The United Nations stressed that the protection of civilians must remain a top priority amid ongoing tensions and cross-border incidents.

The remarks come as concerns grow over regional stability following a series of reported clashes and security incidents along the frontier.
