Pakistan Opposition Bloc Agrees to Enter Talks with Government

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: The opposition coalition Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain Pakistan (TTAP) has decided to respond positively to the government’s invitation for dialogue, sources confirmed on Wednesday. Senior leaders Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Raja Nasir Abbas are expected to meet key government officials soon to initiate the negotiation process.

The decision followed a consultative meeting in Islamabad attended by Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Allama Nasir Abbas, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, Asad Qaiser, Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai, and Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry. The session focused on reviewing the government’s negotiation offer and evaluating statements by influential figures, including Rana Sanaullah.

Sources said PTI leadership, including Salman Akram Raja and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, advised the opposition bloc to engage with the government. Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas were given the mandate to proceed with talks, particularly during the Ramadan period, after securing full confidence from coalition members.

Speaking about the negotiation strategy, Junaid Akbar stressed that political dialogue should aim at consensus, avoiding confrontations with state institutions. He emphasized that conducive conditions must be created for meaningful discussions to progress effectively.

Atif Khan confirmed the bloc’s readiness, stating that all member parties had attended the consultative session and entrusted the leadership to present their position to the government. “We have committed to talks for Pakistan and the Constitution,” he said, noting that the coalition will also inform the public once the government receives their response.

The move signals a potential thaw in political tensions as Pakistan navigates ongoing debates over governance and constitutional adherence.
