Sindh Tightens Security Amid Rising Threat Alerts

Date:

Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: The Government of Sindh has issued key security directives across the province following a high-level emergency meeting to review rising security threats.

The meeting, chaired by Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar at the Sindh Assembly, focused on strengthening preventive measures in light of past incidents and the current security environment.

Speaking at the session, Lanjar said strict decisions were necessary to ensure public safety. He announced that only one to two individuals would be allowed for pick-and-drop at airports to reduce crowding and improve security management. Karachi, Pakistan’s economic hub, requires enhanced vigilance, he added.

The minister directed police to strengthen coordination with all law enforcement agencies and develop comprehensive standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure rapid response at incident sites.

Authorities were instructed to ensure the availability of “Talash App” devices in all provincial prisons and to use the technology during snap-checking, picketing, and combing operations. The government also mandated the presence of female search officers at entry and exit points across the province.

Lanjar ordered a crackdown against the public display of weapons and called for strict implementation of the National Action Plan in its true spirit. He also emphasized enforcing tenancy registration laws in accordance with existing regulations.

Enhanced surveillance has been directed at railway stations, bus terminals, truck depots, and cargo hubs to prevent potential security breaches.

Officials said coordination with other provinces remains strong, and security agencies are closely monitoring the situation.
