Europe Acknowledges Pakistan’s Efforts to Curb Illegal Immigration

Date:

Rome, Italy – Web Desk: European nations have recognized Pakistan’s proactive efforts to curb illegal immigration, following high-level talks between Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and the interior ministers of Italy, Spain, and Greece.

The four ministers participated in a multilateral conference in Rome, focusing on strategies to prevent illegal migration. During the discussions, Italy, Spain, and Greece commended Pakistan for achieving a 47% reduction in illegal migration, highlighting the country’s leadership in combating cross-border human smuggling.

Minister Naqvi proposed promoting legal migration pathways, a plan endorsed by all three European nations. The ministers also agreed to implement coordinated strategies to prevent illegal immigration at all levels and enhance Pakistan’s capacity with support from the European Union.

The meeting further addressed joint policy frameworks against human trafficking, narcotics, and organized crime. Agreements were reached to repatriate serious offenders from Europe to Pakistan and ensure they face legal action. An immediate response system will be strengthened, and the next meeting is scheduled to be held in Pakistan later this year.

Minister Naqvi emphasized that the illegal migration mafia is being brought under legal control and noted that Europe suffers most from these challenges, requiring a cooperative mechanism to resolve the crisis.

The Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi, Spain’s Fernando Grande-Marlaska, and Greece’s Athanasios Plevris lauded Pakistan’s decisive measures, with the Spanish minister describing the action under Naqvi’s leadership as “exemplary.” Pakistani Ambassador Ali Javed, FIA DG Dr. Usman Anwar, and other senior officials were also present.
