Jacinda Ardern Moves to Australia Three Years After Resigning

Date:

Wellington, New Zealand – Web Desk: Three years after stepping down as New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern has largely stayed out of the public eye but recently relocated to Australia with her family. Ardern resigned from office in January 2023, surprising the nation, and has since focused on family and private engagements.

A spokesperson confirmed that Ardern and her family have been traveling over the past few years and are now living in Australia, where she is also working. Before returning to New Zealand, she intends to spend more time in Australia.

Reports had previously indicated that Ardern, her husband, and their seven-year-old daughter were searching for a residence in northern Sydney. Her move highlights a growing trend of New Zealand citizens relocating abroad amid economic challenges, including inflation, weak job growth, and rising living costs.

Jacinda Ardern became the world’s youngest female head of government in 2017 at age 37 and was the second elected female leader to give birth while in office. During her six-year tenure, she earned international praise for compassionate, empathetic, and principled leadership, guiding the country through multiple crises.

After leaving office, Ardern took part in academic and leadership programs at Harvard University, focusing on governance and countering online extremism, and delivered lectures on these subjects. In June 2025, her official biography was published, shedding light on her political career and personal journey.
