Pakistan to Launch Historical Web Series on Jinnah and Iqbal

Date:

Islamabad – Web Desk: The government has announced plans to produce a historical web series on the lives and contributions of Pakistan’s founding leader Muhammad Ali Jinnah and philosopher-poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal, aiming to highlight their ideological and political vision for younger generations.

According to Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, the initiative marks more than a commemorative project and represents a step toward national intellectual and cultural renewal. He described meaningful storytelling as a powerful tool for nation-building and historical awareness.

The web series is planned to coincide with the 150th anniversaries of Jinnah and Iqbal, featuring global-standard production aimed at presenting their ideas and contributions in an engaging historical narrative. Officials say the project will emphasize constitutionalism, civic values, and the ideological journey that shaped Pakistan’s creation.

Iqbal’s philosophical vision and Jinnah’s constitutional struggle remain influential in contemporary political and social discourse, officials noted, emphasizing the importance of connecting modern audiences with foundational ideas.

The government has allocated seed funding of up to PKR 500 million to support high-quality production. Additional measures include workshops for writers and producers, historical research initiatives, and efforts to ensure intellectual depth and authenticity in storytelling.

Authorities believe that historical dramas and digital content can strengthen Pakistan’s cultural diplomacy and soft power on the global stage. The initiative also aims to integrate national heritage into modern digital media frameworks.

Officials expect the project to engage creative industries and promote historical understanding while reinforcing the enduring relevance of Jinnah’s constitutional principles and Iqbal’s intellectual vision.
