Trump-Led Board of Peace: Turkey and Qatar Announce Gaza Support

Date:

Washington, USA – Web Desk: The first meeting of the Board of Peace, chaired by former U.S. President Donald Trump, convened in Washington, D.C., with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in attendance. The session focused on post-ceasefire stabilization in Gaza, drawing significant pledges from Turkey and Qatar.

Representatives from both countries emphasized their expanded roles in international efforts to support Gaza following recent hostilities. Turkey expressed readiness to deploy military personnel for an international stabilization force, while also contributing to healthcare, education, and Palestinian police training. However, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan cautioned that continued ceasefire violations by Israel could impede the deployment of foreign forces.

Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman announced a $1 billion financial aid package to support Gaza’s reconstruction. He reiterated Qatar’s commitment to a final peace solution that ensures the establishment of a recognized Palestinian state while safeguarding Israel’s security and regional integration.

Although the meeting included detailed discussions on post-war recovery and humanitarian aid, no U.S. officials explicitly mentioned Palestinian statehood, reflecting the longstanding U.S., U.N., and allied policy preference for a two-state solution. Israel, meanwhile, has repeatedly opposed the establishment of a Palestinian state following the October 2023 Gaza conflict. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also objected to Turkey’s proposed military presence in Gaza.

The Board of Peace outlined a 20-point roadmap for immediate action under U.S. leadership, aiming to stabilize Gaza, ensure humanitarian aid delivery, and promote regional security.

This first session marks a significant step in multilateral engagement to support Gaza’s recovery while highlighting the challenges of reconciling differing international and regional interests.
